I have too much respect for Sweden so I will never move there

In culture on September 8, 2018 at 06:18

I am a Dane. I prefer to live in Denmark where the beers are cheap and people drink together in order to simply start speaking to each other outside work.

Some Danes have moved to Sweden. It is their choice but I will never join them.

It is not like Malmoe is not a fine town despite the fact that so many people are killed over there that if you took the number of people living there and counted the murders you could compare it to Detroit.

I would never mind visiting Sweden but I believe that if you take up residence in another country, you should try to live like them. I would not teach my children Danish if I lived there because by choosing to live there I have also chosen that my children should be Swedish citizens.

It is exactly the same we as Danes expect from people who come to Denmark with their family. If they want to live in Denmark, be like Danes. Drink beers with us, let your children date and drink like the ordinary young Danes do in high schools.

Trish Regan is only partly right when she talks about why Danes are spending long times in schools. It is also the alcohol. In fact 6000 young Danes drank a lot of beer when the new school year started and everyone but one did well. He made the choice to fight and was arrested. Try to put 6000 people together in any country and see if they can do it better. It is not possible.

We as Danes has put our country together as we like. We pay a lot of taxes. Health care is not free as Trish Regan says. If you child suffers depression and needs residential treatment, the authorities will investigate past generations and if they also have been sick, they will bill you. As a parent you have an obligation to protect Denmarks position as one of the happiest countries in the world and you will be punished with fines if you do not do your duty.

Sweden are allowed to put their country together in another way. I respect them if they choose to invite everyone in and pay for their stay. I will still not join the traffic towards free meals and a life in laziness. I have good things going on for me here in Denmark.

Now they have an election in Sweden and some over there says that you will do better getting a job if you speak Swedish. I agree based on my experiences here in Denmark. Of course some can say that most of the people on the botton on the shops floor in Copenhagen are people from Sweden who came here working for minimum wages. Too some extend it is true but believe me. If they want to do better and make a career, they will go for other languages.

I am too old for a new language, so I will stay here in Denmark.

Something rotten in Denmark – Yes. The police interferes in local businesses causing disruption

In justice on August 16, 2018 at 17:05

For many years busses in Denmark has to go through mandatory audit every year, sometime more often depending of their tasks. Standard procedure is that the busdriver takes the bus for a short drive where he employs the brakes so many times that the brakes are warmed up. Then he drives to a privat owned technical inspection center which does the audit. In Denmark the state was forced to give the inspection of vehicles to private operators due to a rule from the European Union.

The problem with this procedure is that the police now stops busses on the street with cold brakes. It means that the police determine that the busses are illegal while many of them have just passed an inspection.

Today I read in the news that the police has checked 45 busses who is used as replacement for comuter trains operating between Copenhagen and the town of Frederikssund. The busses have been operating since May and they should in fact stop working next week when the trains can run again after the tracks were repaired. 20 of the busses were banned from further driving.

It sounds to me like the message is politically. If it was a question about security, they would have checked the busses back in May when they started to drive on the busy roads.

This summer the police have stopped a number of busses at sports events and music events. Every time a high number of busses were banned. In my mind it is a system error and the police is only interested in showing the public how important they are supposed to be.

If you stop the ordinary busses doing public transport on every road for checks, you could put Denmark to a full stop.

It is technically impossible to manage two things:

  1. Making sure that the temperature is manageable. Busses are either too hot or too cold inside depending of the time of the year. In the old days the drivers manage to cope by sipping small amounts of alcohol but now no person make a living of being a bus driver. What Trish Regan never understood is that 50 percent of the reason while Denmark have a smaller percentage of people being unemployed is that people are forced to work. It is called flex-jobs and work-environment testing where people work for their unemployment benefit or to a lower salary compared with their co-worker without earning the right to vacation. Bus drivers are leftovers from other businesses being moved by case workers to work as bus-drivers.
  2. Breaks on busses only work when they are warmed up, just as sport cars like in Formula One perform better when their tires have the right temperature.
  3. I hope that the justice department will intervene and stop the police from doing these public stunts. They are not improving traffic safety by doing these small spotchecks. If they really wanted to check busses they could stop all busses near the central station of Copenhagen and Aarhus and put the public transport to a full stop.

Political situation in Spain – why I stay in Denmark during my holiday

In Uncategorized on July 19, 2018 at 06:03

The local government at the Balearic Islands are trying to re-brand their islands which for more than 30 years have been known as party islands. What is means is that they are asking for unemployment. For decades it has been islands you go to in order to drink and get wasted. Properly because the islands do not contain anything else which can inspire people to visit them.

Why do an area ask for more unemployment?

Is it the immigration crisis? Do they want massive unemployment which they know from their historical past will provoke people voting for parties offering right-wing politics?

It could be the case and Franco did offer peace and improved business to a run-down country.

But maybe they should also look at supporting the Catalonia case for independence.

I as a tourist will stay at home and I will recommend that others do the same while they figure out what future they want at the islands which will no longer attract tourists.

Summer day 43 – why I stay in Denmark during my holiday

In culture on July 16, 2018 at 07:24

It has not rained for 43 days. My garden is dying and I have not used my outdoor grill even one time this year. There is also a ban against it.

Still I remain in Denmark for good reasons.

A number of places are so worn down so they simply will stop tourism.

In Italy some cities have issued a ban on sitting down and eat your lunch. When I visited Paris a while ago, at all time I carried a water bottle and bought bread to eat on the move. To ban eating food and drink water in the streets is the same as saying that you will not have visitors at all.

I understand that they will force the tourists to eat at their over-prized restaurants who charge too much for everything. A meal at the cheapest place in Venice will set you down 1,000 euros so who would actually eat at restaurants in this city?

None. Policing against sitting down and eat your own food is basically a ban on all visitors. I can only urge people to stay away.

That is the reason tourism in Europe is dying out. I stay at home and recommend people to do this also. Hopefully staying in your own country will cause the European Union to break. Jean-Claude Juncker a person who had done a lot of damage to Europe during a life wandering around in a drunken stage should retire, so each nation can brick themselves up and live in peace

Stop for celebrating success in Denmark?

In culture on July 1, 2018 at 10:31

Typical van with student. This particular truck has not been implicated in any of the incidents mentioned in this article.

So far 7 students have been injured, one critically. Reports from various part of the country also speaks of poor navigating resulting in some of the students by accident coming too close to neighborhoods where people are not born to success in life resulting in assaults and egging.

The Red-Green Alliance in Denmark represented in our parliament speaks of a ban of the old tradition where students travel in trucks going from one family after another celebrating their success. The rules have been tightened over the years. Many years ago they were driven by horses but live animals combined with unlimited amounts of alcohol as the tradition demand made it too dangerous. A number of safety precautions have also been introduced but as the politicians stated maybe it is time to abandon the tradition as whole.

The number of ghettos will be reduced but the present course planned by the parliament is aiming at expelling the poor underprivileged people from the cities which will increase the risk of attacks when the trucks is going from city to city. Thanks to the rather complicated structure of Danish high schools, students no longer select the nearest high school but as result of their long-term goal they have to attend a school which provide the topics they need.

The student who was critical hurt fell from the truck while they were driving. The other 6 students were caught in heavy traffic where all the drivers have to drive aggressively to be competitive and when the truck had to break hard because a car changed line in front of it, the students were trown around in the back putting 6 of them in hospital.

And then of course there are the attacks because the truck made shortcuts through areas controlled by youth gangs instead of the police from the central government in Copenhagen.

Personally I find it sad if this tradition came to and end. While I graduated high school, I never got to ride such a truck because I was forced to work that day (economy was hard back then). That does not mean that I will rob others of celebrating their success. I hope that they find a solution so the students can continue to celebrate in the future.
