In Denmark negro is an OK term to use

In culture on May 24, 2016 at 18:24

The Danish politician Jeppe Kofod has regretted that he translated the Danish word “neger” – common used in Denmark to describe persons who is skin-challenged in such a degree that you could suspect them to have ancestors from Africa – to a negative N-word instead of “Negro”.

So now the Dansh Lawmaker Søren Espersen who was misquoted can go to visit the United States anyway now where his statement is in allignment with the common use among Danes.

What remains is the question of what drove Jeppe Kofod to make such a bad translation in his tweets. It is kind of surprising because many Danes consider him to be a real man. In 2008 when he was 34 years of age, he stuffed a 15 year old girl on the young of the partys youth camp like a Christmas Turkey. The relationship put him a couple of years behind in his career because many inside the party considered him too greedy. One or two mistresses might be acceptable but not some single night stand whenever they had youth camps.

Maybe the poor translation was a try to skip some of the years he lost back then so he could be one of the powerful people inside the socialist party he is a part of. However the motives are not clear.

Whatever the case shows that the term “Negro” in Denmark is both a widespread and acceptable term to use. It is not demeaning according to our culture.

Round and round and round they go

In family on May 12, 2016 at 19:01

Was with my oldest son out watching Speedway. You know something about motorcycles going round and round on a track while they drift through the dirt. Very boring but what dont you do for your children.

The most boring hours I have spent for months.

Then of course as father and son we ate once it was over. Real burgers for real men!

That is something I remember when I look back. The many times we ate together. Meals are when family come together.
