Mike Parker working as spokesperson for the Corvallis Knight which is a football team somewhere in Oregon didn’t like the boyfriend his youngest daughter dated so he took the entire family on a holiday. During the holiday they passed a private detention center somewhere in Arizona looking like a ranch. Here they dumped the daughter named Ellie.
Of course not only the boyfriend was concerned. Ellie was very into Volleyball and a lot of her classmates were also concerned so they created a Facebook page the father managed to close.
However volunteering for a human rights organization and knowing a lot about the casualty-rate such private detention facilities have in the United States we will do a lot to create awareness about her case.
I am a father myself. Of course I care about who my daughter dates. I believe in the old saying: “Keep your enemies close”. I have been in very same situation as this father and I have managed to comfort the boyfriends away. I have made my daughter secure so she comes to me and keeps me informed about what is going on.
I have a daughter who drinks alcohol. Living in a country where the alternative is support of sharia laws, I accept the alcohol consumption as our laws accept and keep an open line to my children so I can aid them when they stumble in life as every teenager do in the rite of passage towards adulthood.
If I should give an advice to Mr. Parker then it is to open your door for the boyfriend. Once your daughter is 18 the only alternative is to kick her out because by then she can see everyone she likes. You might better secure that someone will visit you at the nursing home when that time comes.
