Remember Paris Jackson?

Some suggested that she should be sent to Diamond Ranch Academy near Hurricane in Utah. She is from California and normally parents would choose a treatment program near home, but several members of her family who is waiting to milk the golden Goose believe that depression is all about being lazy.

She didn’t go to Diamond Ranch Academy. She went to …. (I am not going to tell but you can search for the answer on Fornits)

That seems to be her luck. Of course she might be forced to slep with a counselor. The place she went to had a case involving a house parent who was too fond of the girls.

But she is not dead. Just some weeks ago the second teenager who we know of lost his life during his time at Diamond Ranch Academy. The first time a boy died was when the treatment center was placed far from anyone. Because it took forever before they believed that his pain was for real and the distance to the hospital was too far, he died.

They have built a new campus closer to the city of Hurricane. But it doesn’t work very well when they ignore signs of suicide. Once they do they should give up the teenager to a proper hospital. A fancy football field cannot save lives.

If Paris Jackson had gone to Diamond Ranch Academy with a history of suicide attempts the stay would not have good for her. She saved her life. They boy was not so lucky.

It is very sad. I will pray for his family. They reached out for help and all the help they got was help to clean their wallet out.

  1. My daughter currently resides at DRA. I feel no obligation to explain my decisions to you, however I think it is important for readers to realize everyone makes choices. My daughter has a host of issues to address, bi-polar, depression , severe self-esteem, anxiety and the list could go on. These disorders place her in an extremely vulnerable position in daily life and we have already tried traditional theraputic approaches. We visit on alternating months, have family phone therapy sessions twice per month and there is in integrated theraputic approach in a scaled-down environment. She has made progress after 4 months, progress that is aimed at change, not a temporary facade. The fact that Utah is a parent’s rights state allows us the rational, responsible adults to make the decision along with trained mental health prodessionals as to the appropriate time for her to transition home. A child’s rights state allows a child to determine when they want to go home, which or course would be anytime they were met with authority or opposition. My husband and I are both educated, loving involved parents and we love our daughter enough to give her the opportunity to build skills and behaviors that will benefit her in all facets of her life. I don’t know what DRA was 15 years ago, I know what it is today. Think what you will and buy into the rumors and whispers , but you are being held captive by falsehoods. DRA is a world class facility with an amazing staff and a child-centered approach to changing lives for the better. I was there the end of January 2014 and will be returning the end of April 2014.

  2. A boy died there in 2013. Not 15 years ago. A second boy died there in 2009. 2009 is not 15 years ago.
